GP screamers warm up

The Historic Grand Prix Car Asociation is organising what promises to be a fabulous series of six races for Pre-1966 rear-engined Grand Prix cars across Europe this season.

Driving force Paul Alexander is adamant that the invitation events must be fun. “While we want to raise the profile of the cars, and the era, winning is not everything. It’s not for pot hunters.”

Three trophy classes have been created, for four-cylinder 1.5-litre GP cars, 1.5-litre multi-cylinder GP cars and Tasman/Intercontinental Formula cars of 2.5 and 2.7-litre capacity. Formula 2 cars which raced in F1 events will also be admitted.

Alexander himself will race the ex-Graham Hill 1964 BRM P261-5, which contested the 1965 Mexican GP with Jackie Stewart at the wheel.
