New series for classic US cars

July 7, 2014

Pre-1966 American touring and GT cars running to FIA Appendix K regulations will have their own pilot race series in France this year, before a planned expansion into other European countries in 2009.

The Yankee Series will feature races in two events at Dijon, starting at the L’Age d’Or meeting on June 28/29. Other races in Holland, Spain and Portugal could be added to the 2009 schedule.

“We recognise that there are many racers out there with these fantastic cars who want to have the chance to race with like-minded people,” said organiser Ingrid Cholot.

Paul Lawrence

Here is a man who goes racing every weekend from March to October. Paul’s passion for the sport goes back to when he was a child of the 1960s. He has organised, competed in and marshalled on scores of events, and has written about the subject for 20 years. He is as at home in the paddock at Brands Hatch as in a Welsh forest or at Shelsley Walsh.
