Fans arrange Saab RAC tribute

July 7, 2014

A team of Saab rallying enthusiasts will mark the 50th anniversary of Eric Carlsson’s victory on the RAC Rally by entering a team of Saabs on the Roger Albert Clark Rally in November.

The 1960 win for Carlsson (above), when he was co-driven by Stuart Turner in a two-stroke Saab, was the first in a hat-trick of victories. It is hoped both Carlsson and Turner will be at the Roger Albert Clark Rally to see the cars away.

The team entry is being organised by Saab enthusiast Jim Valentine, a regular Roger Albert entrant in his two-stroke 96. He aims to field at least four cars.

Paul Lawrence

Here is a man who goes racing every weekend from March to October. Paul’s passion for the sport goes back to when he was a child of the 1960s. He has organised, competed in and marshalled on scores of events, and has written about the subject for 20 years. He is as at home in the paddock at Brands Hatch as in a Welsh forest or at Shelsley Walsh.
