Of these two books, Johnson’s is probably one for concours judges only, as it illustrates 356 variants in exhaustive detail, down to such things as door striker-plates and window-winders. Almost all photos are of restored cars, rather than original shots, even to the point of ‘colourising’ a period B&W. Scrogham has a more interesting tale to tell concerning the production four-cam cars, touching on the competition machines, and produces the better read, backed up by technical drawings of the confusingly various types.
