New Supremo for TGP

The FIA thoroughbred Grand Prix car series will have a new boss for the 2001 season and beyond, following confirmation that Stuart McCrudden will now manage the category. The series, which gains full championship status for 2001, regularly attracts around 30 F1 cars and is expected to have eight or nine races at major European circuits. McCrudden takes over the running of the category from Steve Lydon and brings experience as both a competitor and promoter, having previously handled the Classic Touring Car Championship.

Traditionally the series visits venues such as the Nurburgring, Monza and Donington Park, all of which are likely to feature in the schedule that McCrudden is currently compiling. As many as 50 cars — falling within the 1967-85 boundaries — could be on the roster to race in 2001. PL
