Brooklands, the world’s first purpose-built race track, is celebrating its centenary on the weekend of June 16-17. Whether your love is for cars, aircraft or motorcycles, both days are crammed with events and activities for young and old alike.

Saturday sees re-enactments of some of the great races that took place in the Track’s heyday between 1907-39, while on the Sunday, the actual 100th anniversary of its opening, a cavalcade of period cars will re-enact the first-ever lap of the magnificent new circuit.

Throughout the weekend the famed banking and Test Hill will be in regular use and spectators will be able to enter competitions to win rides around the track.

Notable cars attending include the Napier-Railton featured on page 102, the Blitzen Benz that broke the land speed record at Brooklands in 1909, ‘Babs’ the 27-litre record breaker with the largest engine ever to race at Brooklands and a host of other world famous races from the pre-war era.
