Obituary – John Etheridge

January 12, 2015

Race engineer and GT40 expert John Etheridge has died aged 73. A vital part of Aston Martin’s race crew with DP212 and 214, he was head-hunted by John Wyer to build and run GT40s at FAV, and was much valued by Wyer. In 1968 he set up his own firm, rebuilding and race-preparing Astons and GT40s, including the prototype, and also building the ‘run on’ Safir GT40s.

Paul Lawrence

Here is a man who goes racing every weekend from March to October. Paul’s passion for the sport goes back to when he was a child of the 1960s. He has organised, competed in and marshalled on scores of events, and has written about the subject for 20 years. He is as at home in the paddock at Brands Hatch as in a Welsh forest or at Shelsley Walsh.
