BRDC members reject initial Silverstone sale

The British Racing Drivers Club members rejected the idea of selling Silverstone at its annual general meeting on April 30, but have voted in favour of a commercial restructuring.

Despite this apparent rejection, Nicola Foulston’s Brands Hatch Leisure Group is pressing ahead with proposals for a full takeover. Part of this package is likely to win the vote of less pecunious members with very lucrative windfalls. Despite impassioned pleas by the likes of Jackie Stewart and Jody Scheckter, one leading historic racer said that “every member in my situation would ultimately take the money.”
