South London’s scenic Crystal Palace Racing circuit, which closed its gates to motor racing in September 1972, will reverberate to historic motorsport action on Bank Holiday Monday, May 31, when the Sevenoaks & District Motor Club runs its third annual sprint. Gerry Marshall, who won the final race at “the Palace” in a Lister-Jaguar, and returns in a Ford Escort RS1800, remembers the atmosphere was very special. “Racing there was always a holiday in the park. Like Monaco with a cloth cap!”
