Moss to star on Timewarp TV

July 7, 2014

You may or may not regard yourself as a racing ‘petrolhead’, but that title introduces a Stirling Moss evening on Channel 4 on March 7. Beginning at 9.30pm, a string of features on our racing icon will carry you right through to the early-morning start of the year’s first Grand Prix, in Australia. So you can directly compare the 1958 season, introduced by Raymond Baxter, with today’s offering.

Other morsels include opinions on Moss by his peers, a look at his high-tech house and a ‘masterclass’ with Il Maestro driving a Cooper at Donington, plus conversational links involving our contributors Nigel Roebuck and Doug Nye. Period film includes the ’55 British Grand Prix, Dundrod TT and ’53 Milk Miglia. Readers will be graded on whether they sit up for the old stuff and record the new, or vice versa. GC

Bravely ignoring his degree in industrial design after discovering night rallies in a Renault 8, GC joined Motor Sport by accident, in the Teesdale days around 1982 when Jenks and WB were office regulars and Mr Tee ruled with a rod of cardboard. He took part in some of the early historic rallies, winning one of the Pirelli Marathons, and regularly runs his Mk2 Jaguar in road events.
