Brooklands in autumn

July 7, 2014

Brooklands will reverberate to the sound of modern race engines on Sunday October 14 during the second Autumn Motorsport Festival at the historic venue.

Competition machines from all eras will be in action on the Mercedes-Benz World test track adjacent to the Brooklands Museum, while selected cars will also run up the Test Hill.

Among the racing cars present will be Formula 5000s, FIA GTs and touring cars, as well as Group B rally cars. Heading the line-up will be two Benetton Formula 1 cars: a B193 Benetton raced by Michael Schumacher and a B190 that Nelson Piquet drove to victory at Suzuka and Adelaide in 1990.

Here is a man who goes racing every weekend from March to October. Paul’s passion for the sport goes back to when he was a child of the 1960s. He has organised, competed in and marshalled on scores of events, and has written about the subject for 20 years. He is as at home in the paddock at Brands Hatch as in a Welsh forest or at Shelsley Walsh.
