Small grids hit historic F1

The future of the FIA Historic Formula One Championship has come under the spotlight after series organisers were forced to cancel the round at Jarama in late September due to a lack of entries.

The rumoured five-car grid for the race was another blow for this ailing series, which had previously run races this season for eight- and nine-car grids. Its Jarama round was always going to be placed under extra pressure due to a clash with the Grand Prix Masters races at Spa-Francorchamps. The latter races drew a 20-car field.

“It has been extremely tough this year,” admitted HFO’s Dan Collins.
