FIVA representative jailed for exportion

The Authenticity of some Italian history cars must be under question after an Italian court jailed Franco Lombardi, a representative of FIVA, which is responsible for authenticating car identities.

Lombardi was jailed for 20 months and fined 12500 for extortion after owner Bernardo Favero taped him demanding $250,000 to authenticate two Ferraris a 375MM Plus (which Motor Sport tested in March) and a 250 Monza part-owned by Olivier Gendebien, who died before the verdict.

Lombardi was concerned as he owned a Ferrari with the same chassis number as the Monza.

The court ruled both of Favero’s cars were genuine and ordered Lombardi to pay costs. GC
