Jenson Button has been confirmed as Fernando Alonso’s replacement for this year’s Monaco Grand Prix, as the Spaniard contests the Indy 500.

The Briton has one victory in the Principality, winning with Brawn in 2009. He’s stood on the podium twice more, finishing second in 2004 for Honda and third while at McLaren in 2011.

Button was replaced at McLaren by Stoffel Vandoorne during the winter, instead moving into an ambassador role for 2017 and 2018. This will be his first Grand Prix since Abu Dhabi last November.
