Liberty Media’s expansion of Formula 1 in the United States continued with a night race on the streets of Las Vegas in November 2023. F1 acquired a disused parking lot to build the impressive permanent pit complex, paddock and initial section of the circuit. The remainder of the 3.8-mile layout uses the streets of the world’s gambling capital, including Las Vegas Boulevard, better known as The Strip. The first F1 race held on a Saturday since the 1985 South African Grand Prix was a spectacular night race which Max Verstappen won after recovering from a five second penalty at his first pitstop. Geore Russell dominated in 2024, although it was the Dutchman who stole the headlines once more by clinching his fourth world title with a conservative drive into fifth.
